Awesome review man I had all forgotten about your first impression thing is been a while but damn was that review made of pure awesome. But then there are only one question left to make Arkada.
Great review! I watched the first episode just the other day, now I’m determined to finish it. I really hope it gets picked up by Funimation or someone cuz I would definitely buy this one on Bluray as soon as it comes States-side.
More than anything, I found those wishes to be quite deceptive and deadly. But the girls of this show were basically given a “pick your poison” kind of scenario: do nothing and let people die or fight, suffer and then die a heartbreaking death. Either way, no one walks away happy. Except maybe Kyubei. Because he feels nothing.
I remember watching it and not knowing about the “twist” in Episode 3. Great Scott, this was heavy!
Or to paraphrase Doc Brown: “When this baby hits Episode 3, you are going to see some serious shit!”
I actually just finished Madoka a couple hours ago, and feeling in an anime kind of mood, swung over to the desudes brigade to see if there were any new reviews. … Lookie what I found! =D
Aside from trolling us with Kyubey, the best thought in this was the connection to FMA’s opening. Equivalent exchange basically sums up one of the major themes (*the* major theme??) in the show. On the negative side, I guess I was too preoccupied with the roller coaster ride to really notice some of the crappy backgrounds. That’s a bummer, but it will be fixed. Now it just needs to be licensed so I can buy it. Oh, and while I’m wishing, I can has Dennou Coil and Kara no Kyoukai too, plz? Just don’t ask for my soul on those last two. =3
For any questioning this show’s manliness, some parts approach Gurren Lagann levels of win, while making more sense *and* being done by little girls. Take that, Evangelion.
YAY!!!
I do believe it was a VLOG of yours in which you stated something along the lines of WATCH IT. and I was between shows at the time so I did.
AND IT WAS AWESOME.
So thank you! :D
And Kyubey is such a creeper. Was I the only one who sensed that right away?
By the way, FMA reference = win!
But Tsubasa (in my opinion), though a fave of mine, takes off nicely, but takes a lot of time to become as (I don’t want to spoil anything!) awesome as it does. Still, awesome though. :)
I’ve been waiting for your review of Madoka Magica and it was worth the wait. It was interesting hearing your ideas on the show.
As for Infinite Stratos which I’m sure you’ll get to eventually, I happened to finish the show. Your statement during the desu rattle pretty much describes the rest of the show. It continues to play it safe and just goes with what worked with other harem shows. Episode 8 & 9 together will sum up exactly what I.S is about.
I have already basically made up my mind of watching this show, but it’s good to see your own opinion of it. Here’s hoping Aniplex gives it the dub that it well deserves
Finally got around to watching, shit is dark, It’s my first magical girl show and although I’ve never seen one before I do know what to expect from a magical girl show and this show did everything different.
You say people were easily fooled because it was SHAFT. Me, I was on-guard because it was SHAFT. Sure, they produced things like Hidemari Sketch and Pani Poni Dash; they also produced things like Bakemonogatari and Sayonara, Zetsubou-sensei. I was prepared for mind-fuck, let’s put it that way.
Also, agreeing with Hardy here. No Morning Rescue? What is this, ANN?
5:16: ARGH! IT’S STARING INTO MY SOUL!

So glad I started watching FMA. It meant I got that reference.

So basically it’s a darker more twisted version of Princess Tutu.
But is it as manly?

2:00 Final Fantasy 7 City Of The Ancients Theme
:3
4:00 Fullmetal Alchemist music
aaaand that’s all I recognized.
Thanks for your thoughts Ark, I’ll give it a look.
Am I the only one who watched this show and actually sympathized with Kyuubey’s point of view? Does that make me a horrible person or something?

What? No Morning Rescue reference?! Ark, I must say…. I am disappoint.

I wonder if there is other anime that make a genre and alter it?
