1. Once, twice a day to check out the reviews.
2. Not at all, because I just don't do forums a lot.
3. More from Kagami & Rabbit, give Prof & Hitch a break. Also, maybe a couple of fandubs.
4. Vixen (since she has said that she will be done making reviews once her career takes off), Arkada, JesuOtaku, Rabbit, and Kagami. And POCKY SPOT!!!!
5. Prof & Hitch (Not that they are bad, just give them some time off)
6. Not that I know of.
7. You all do a great job. Keep it up.
8. That's fine. Do you think you can give us a notice of a livestream (like MANIME Monday) for Tues & Thurs?
9. Not really.
10. Only if I can find time to make a review series. I would if I could, but engineering calls.
11. Yes, but I don't put videos up. YES, I would gladly subscribe to yours.
12. I listen to the Desu Rattle when it is released but haven't heard one live. If you could tell me when you guys are doing a live podcast, I would follow it.
13. You all are willing to put work aside to entertain and inform us about anime.
14. That you aren't as popular as you should be.
15. Keep up the good work. You've inspired me to think about making my own video series. Thanks!

1. At least twice a day.
2. In the beginning I was on the forums 3 to 5 hours a days but later on I just got board with it.
3. I think 2.0 had a better blog system then 3.0.
4. Reviews,countdowns and fandubs.
5. The quickie reviews but I understand that sometimes u just dont got time to do a full review.
6. Not to my knowledge.
7. Prof. is like the britsh judge in reality tv he's tough but right. JO isn't on the site(video wise) alot anymore but still does great reviews when she is on the site. Vixen is cute, funny violent and has great sidekicks. Arkada knows how to make a good video a great video with his knowledge of special effects to bad hes busy. Where's Mal? The rest are to new to critisize yet.
8. Wont know if it works till it hapens I hope it works.
9. The 3.0 system makes it hard for me to blog but I use to do countdowns, comicstars( a superhero tribute), amvs and what ever was on my mind.
10. Got no site.
11. Yes and yes.
12. I do because it's entertaining and since it's voice only i could do other stuff and listen at the sametime.
13. The staff and there ideas.
14. There busy schedules.
15. You guys are great keep up the good work.

1. A lot more than I use to since I do reviews
2. Same, I'm starting to to so at least twice a day
3.I'd love to see the D2 incorporate more than just anime. I mean you already do to a point but I'd love to see more of it.
4. Cross-overs, community stuff, the thing I posted above
5. I don't really have anything off the top of my head.
6. The link to the forum from the main site
7. I tend to gravitate towards Vix and JO reviews mainly because I tend to agree with their choices in anime more than anyone else. However I don't particularly hate anyones reviews, just don't watch them as often. I suppose I watch the prof after that because I find him rather comedic. I haven't really watched the others enough to give a fair impression and my current sleepily written ones are frankly half-assedly done.
8. I'm not really familiar with the term so I can't really give an opinion
9. I use it to promote video mostly
10. If I had a site I'd affiliate. First things first, getting over 100's on a more regular basis
11.I'd subscribe to a d2 account. I already follow vix's.
12. No because I wasn't aware of it really
13. I like the diversity of the opinions of the site
14. I'd like more diversity of content
15. I'm really hungry and sleepy.

JO - Came to this site cuz of you so I will always have a soft spot for you. I like your reviews but please continue inbetweens I love that
Arkada - Probably my favorite reviewer since we seem to have similar tastes. Love the way he does his overall review
Vix - I enjoy your reviews even though I am not that big into shojo (funny since I'm a chick). I enjoy that you give your reviews more life with your real life scenes
Prof. - Your rage is enjoyable to watch, but I really do not like mech shows so we have a different taste
Mal - Please come back for Poky Spot love the anime news since I am to lazy to look it up myself XD
Tsu - Just don't kill me all I have to say
Kagami - I enjoy your work, but amvs aren't my thing
Rabbit - You seem to work well as a sidekick to Vix, and I believe you drawing talent deserves some recognition. However, I do not read manga so I can't say much about ur main show.
Hitch - We have completely different tastes, but I do like the season overviews

8. How do you feel about the MWF and weekends schedule change?
Does not bother me at all
9. Do you use the fan blogs? What do you post?
Not a blogger so no

11. Do you have a YouTube account? Would you subscribe to the D2 youtube account?
No youtube, I am to shy for that
12. Do you listen to the D2 Podcast? Why or why not?
Yep, as I clean usually. Please no more dead cat girls though

The community seems really nice from what I have read
14. What do you like the least about D2?
Umm can I pass?
15. Anything else you’d like to comment on?
More collaborations please

1. How often do you visit D2? If it is not very often, why?
A couple of times a day, cuz it's still summer holiday for me. During the school year it's more like once a day.

2. How often do you post on the forums in D2? If not very often, why?
Not often, I only recently learned not to betoo shy to speak up in here. My 'Why I love d2" entry enboldened me and now I think I'll be showing up here more and posting more.

3. If you could change anything at all, what would you change about the site?
The layout maybe, I know you guys can do much, much better :) What you have is cute, but you guys can be badass instead, no?

4. What would you like to see more of?
I like what I get in the amounts you guys can handle it. I like what you guys do the way you do it, and as I understand you do as much as you can without forcing yourselves. I don't want to see more of anything if that means your flow's gonna break. OK, I can't phrase it right, but if there's anything I'd like to see more of is DesuRattle!

5. What would you like to see less of?
As above :)

6. Is there anything “broken” with the site that the Brigaders do not seem to be aware of? (Links, search function, etc.)
I owuldn't know. But so far nothing's ever gone wrong with the site for me except when the old HQ got hacked.

7. How do you feel about each of the Brigaders? (Honest but polite, please, and give your reasons.)
I've been watching Vixen almost from the very start. She was the first anime reviewer I ever watched unless my memory fails me. I am amazed how much she developed in virtually every respect since that RxJ review. I love to find that she can talk about things that anger her or disgust her in anime in an intelligent and unbiased way. To use a corny quip from Sailor Moon, I think Vix is the glue that holds the Brigade together. And she seems to be a great ogranizer, so I feel very good about her being here, being on the team and making us all smile, think and watch some really enjoyable anime. And she's got a lovely singing voice that she needs to put to use more often!

Ark was, I believe my second Brigadeer from times before d2 existed. I learned to get jokes from him ;) (gosh I used to be such a stick-up-my-ass dullard, honestly, I shivereth at the thought so terrifying) I am unvaryingly amazed at how crisp and clean his videos looked from the very start. He's a known quality to me. We seem to have similar tastes in both anime and anime music, which I find particularly beneficial, because for me looking anime it's 'you can't go wrong with Ark's recommendation'. And he's heaps of fun to watch. I seriously want to hear him and Vixen produce a song together :D

JO was the next reviewer I ever watched, also in bygone days with no d2 around. I liked her thorough analyses, her professionalism, her incredible dedication to what she was doing. I didn't watch all that much anime by her recommendation, but what I did watch was pretty much awesome. She was, she remains the person who pointed out to me the things to pay attention to in anime, and the person to explain to me why it's okay not to love a series devoutly even if everyone says it's a must-see and must-love classic. I like that she spreads d2 around the web and it can't possibly hurt that she's brought her own fans to the d2 :) I first heard about the d2 from her and I am here thanks to her , so thanks, JO! And by the way, I am one of the 2 people you mentioned in your top 25 anime who have not seen FMA. Yeah. So who's the other one?

Prof I admire for being such an awesome leader, who braves the shistorms of crappy anime. He's an authority on crap and I truly respect him for being able to be persuaded to watch something he's prejudiced against (albeit grudgingly so ;P). He's the one and only, the irreplaceable Prof. Also: Nyan Prof.
'Nuff said.

If Prof introduced me to crap anime, Hitch exposed me to some OLD crap anime ;P But he also taught me to appreciate the older classics even if they don't have the smooth, clean, digitized look of the contemporary anime. And he keeps my brain working and my browsing skills top-notch - it's your jokes and references, Hitch. English is my second language after all, and the cultural references are not something I catch on the fly. So you're all the more educational for me, Hitch.

Mal is an enigma. But appreciate his efforts at Pocky Spot and I'm a little apprehensive of him because he created Tsubake O_o Love you, Mal :)

Rabbit is too cute. I'm trying to believe she's also dangerously psychotic as Vix and co. keep telling us, but I can't see how she's dangerous. Yet. Except maybe that one time she did Strawberry Panic review with Vix ;) I think she's a great addition to the Brigade with her TRONTR. That show serves as a tangible expansion of anime-related content on the site. In general manga is an important part of anime and vice versa, and to have a dedicated feature of the site for manga (I believe) is only fair. Only we need more content from you, Rabbit ;)

Kagami is another case of how the site gets expanded in the direction of anime-related content. Kagami's amvs are not only great in and of themselves, and they, like Rabbit's TRONTR and JO's radio dramas, serve to turn the site into a very comprehensive high-quality anime experience. I love that the Brigade has their own resident amv maker.

Did I miss anyone? Do I need to talk about the robot?

8. How do you feel about the MWF and weekends schedule change?
As in Q 4 &5 .

9. Do you use the fan blogs? What do you post?
I wrote a single entry quite some time ago. Then I had no time to follow that up. I was thinking about writing more, but I think I'll end up making my own reviews instead. Eventually ... maybe...

10. Are you interested in site affiliation with your site? Or do you have suggestions for D2 site affiliations?
Don't have a site yet. The one I'm working on is not at all anime-related. So sorry, no.

11. Do you have a YouTube account? Would you subscribe to the D2 youtube account?
I have a dedicated account for the d2, and I would definitely subscribe to the Brigade account on YT.

12. Do you listen to the D2 Podcast? Why or why not?
I listen to it with religious passion. Because it's fun, it's interesting, because you guys mention new anime in there that you do not review (for various reasons), so it's yet another source of information about good/bad anime.

13. What do you like the most about D2?
Everything, duh.
IT'S FREAKIN' UNBELIEVABLE!

14. What do you like the least about D2?
For want of a better, more intelligent answer: the current layout.

15. Anything else you’d like to comment on?
Yeah.
Don't every go away.

1. How often do you visit D2? If it is not very often, why?

More or less daily checking for updates

2. How often do you post on the forums in D2? If not very often, why?

More than once a day I guess? Thou not too much important stuff ^^ Forum games and a welcome for the new people are the biggest part.

3. If you could change anything at all, what would you change about the site?
nothing

4. What would you like to see more of?
straight up reviews and JO ;)

5. What would you like to see less of?
I see that you addressed the bot problem so...

6. Is there anything “broken” with the site that the Brigaders do not seem to be aware of? (Links, search function, etc.)
not that I know

7. How do you feel about each of the Brigaders? (Honest but polite, please, and give your reasons.)
I group it up: Prof., Arkada and JO you are my favorites I love your reviews keep them coming XD
Hitch, Vix and Rabbit: You guys are not on the same wavelength as I so I am mostly not watching your stuff or got to acknowledge that our tastes are pretty much different. But you do stuff here and there that I like and It would be sad if everyone had the same style and taste would it not? Still love you!
The rest: The reviews are my main interest and I somehow do not see much of you. Actually I can not say enough about you because I have not seen enough of you to really form a solid opinion or something like that.
I kept it to your work because I feel not entitled nor qualified to say more than that.

8. How do you feel about the MWF and weekends schedule change?
You gotta do what you like at your own pace! If you are not enjoying yourselves than I won't be happy either. So do as you see fit.

9. Do you use the fan blogs? What do you post?
Nope. I do not use hem and I do not read them (mostly)

10. Are you interested in site affiliation with your site? Or do you have suggestions for D2 site affiliations?
I have not site so no

11. Do you have a YouTube account? Would you subscribe to the D2 youtube account?
Yes and sure I would !

12. Do you listen to the D2 Podcast? Why or why not?
Yeah I like but have not gotten around to hear more than one.

13. What do you like the most about D2?
You guys and the Forums AND THE COMMUNITY STREAMS!

14. What do you like the least about D2?
Nothing I can think of.

15. Anything else you’d like to comment on?
Shoutout to our Streamers! Love you guys. And to JO you brought me here <3

1. How often do you visit D2? If it is not very often, why?
I visit almost everyday its one of my favorite sites

2. How often do you post on the forums in D2? If not very often, why?
Considering the amount of time im on the forums not very much mainly because Im not that opinionated

3. If you could change anything at all, what would you change about the site?
The color scheme of the forum, make it a bit more lively if you can

4. What would you like to see more of?
Brigader interaction and I realize this is hard since you are all in college. Its great that you are doing karaoke with the fans but there are some of us, like me, who dont have the equipment or know how to participate. So just joking around on the forum and irc more often would be awesome. Also more Rabbit in Vixens reviews you two work off of each other very well

5. What would you like to see less of?
Bad acting, I will explain more when I talk about the individual brigaders

6. Is there anything “broken” with the site that the Brigaders do not seem to be aware of? (Links, search function, etc.)
Nope everything is fine with me

7. How do you feel about each of the Brigaders? (Honest but polite, please, and give your reasons.)
Vixen: I love your reviews but your not a great actor sometimes when you try to be funny it doesn't feels natural and takes me out of your review, but I get right back in when you start talking about the show
Ark: Second favorite reviewer and no complaints
Prof: In 2D form the jokes work very well but the same problem I had with Vixen's bad acting applies to Prof's new live action segments
Jo: Favorite reviewer for this site but it does feel like she is not part of the site anymore.
Mal: I realize he is very important to the site but it is really easy to forget about him.
Hitch: My least favorite reviewer he is like the NC of anime reviews but less angry. He even said on the forum that he tries to review bad films because it is easier to make jokes out of it. A reviewer is supposed to tell you whats good and bad.
Rabbit: I loved her TRONTR vids, drawing vids not so much and I will say it again Vixen and Rabbit tag team is awesome.
Kagami: Really great AMV's is all that needs to be said

8. How do you feel about the MWF and weekends schedule change?
Keep your priories straight school, work and real life come first and D2 second plus like you said more time means better quality

9. Do you use the fan blogs? What do you post?
Nope

10. Are you interested in site affiliation with your site? Or do you have suggestions for D2 site affiliations?
Don't have a site but if I did I would be interested.

11. Do you have a YouTube account? Would you subscribe to the D2 youtube account?
Yes and Yes

12. Do you listen to the D2 Podcast? Why or why not?
Sometimes and when I do I watch only about the first 30 mins because they are too long. I have only watched one all the way threw because of how funny it was.

13. What do you like the most about D2?
Great community/awesome reviewers

14. What do you like the least about D2?
That is honestly a hard question....I guess the premium content I never liked the idea of only allowing people who paid to get access of certain content unless it was necessary for the site like Hulu Plus

15. Anything else you’d like to comment on?
Maybe to try promoting your site some more you could try to apply for booths at various cons, if you could somehow fit that into your busy schedule.

1. How often do you visit D2? If it is not very often, why?
About once per week at this point now, just to catch up on any videos that might interest me.

2. How often do you post on the forums in D2? If not very often, why?
Almost never. I prefer using the IRC channel instead of forum posts these days.

3. If you could change anything at all, what would you change about the site?
Get more people into the IRC channel more often.

4. What would you like to see more of?
Informative and/or entertaining reviews.

5. What would you like to see less of?
Let's Plays. They rarely work, and just feel like a waste of time to me.

6. Is there anything “broken” with the site that the Brigaders do not seem to be aware of? (Links, search function, etc.)
Nothing that I'm aware of.

7. How do you feel about each of the Brigaders? (Honest but polite, please, and give your reasons.)
The only person I don't really care for is Hitch, maybe if I watched more of his reviews I might change my mind.

8. How do you feel about the MWF and weekends schedule change?
Doesn't bother me at all.

9. Do you use the fan blogs? What do you post?
I never read them or post in them. I forgot they even existed.

10. Are you interested in site affiliation with your site? Or do you have suggestions for D2 site affiliations?
If I had a site, then sure.

11. Do you have a YouTube account? Would you subscribe to the D2 youtube account?
Yes I have a Youtube account, but I don't really see the point in subscribing to it if I already get notifications of new videos from Twitter.

12. Do you listen to the D2 Podcast? Why or why not?
I used to, but the poor sound quality and lackadaisical nature turned me off from it.

13. What do you like the most about D2?
The fact that there are decent anime reviewers out there. I have fallen out of grace with current anime trends and don't watch nearly as much as I did say 10 years ago. So having you guys and gals around to give me your opinion on stuff is very nice.

14. What do you like the least about D2?
Since I spend the majority of my time in IRC, I feel no sense of connection with the rest of the community. I rarely post here, I don't use the fan blogs, and almost never comment on videos. All I do is just sit and idle in the IRC and complain when something bothers me. I really should just leave if that's all I do....

15. Anything else you’d like to comment on?
I apologize to anying in IRC if I seem like nothing more than annoyance to the rest of you. I just hope to talk to more people in the future and make a better impression on them.

Uh-oh, 3.5! Please, don't make clerics, wizards and druids overpowered! [/ bad D&D joke]

1. How often do you visit D2? If it is not very often, why?

I visit every other day. Mostly I check the Anime threads for interesting new discussions, and the Livestream threads to see what my fellow streamers are doing/to inform others of my plans for Sneebs Selections. I find the discussions, while plentiful, aren’t always relevant to my interests, so I just let them be.

2. How often do you post on the forums in D2? If not very often, why?

I post once a week, on average. A smartass comment here, an intelligent contribution there. Just enough to maintain my connection to the community and to stimulate some intelligent and interesting discussion, or to let people know my stream is starting up. (Haven't been doing that too much lately: thanks, kitchen work!)

3. If you could change anything at all, what would you change about the site?

I'd like it if there were a graphics-light mode on the main page, whcih didn't have all the cutesy-pooh rainbow-glow art taking up the bandwidth. While funny, viewing it in public can be a little embarrassing and, and it's a royal pain when I'm connecting via my school's crappy internet and have to wait a full inute before I can click the link to get to the forums because the browser was busy loading wallpaper. Also, in the forums, having the Etiquette Video stickied. Vix made it a long time ago, only to have it lost to the sands of time. If it could come back and fucntion like Posting & You has on other forums, I'd be all over that.

4. What would you like to see more of?

More intelligent, insightful commentaries on shows. Discussions about symbolism or production history or cultural trends in Japan and why all these things are the way they are. A little bit of insight into how the series was made, or how it handles its themes, or something along those lines. Recommendations to similar series that might appeal to me. I want to be entertained and informed.

5. What would you like to see less of?

The reviewer crossover gags are occasionally cute, but they're beginning to feel less like clever jokes or ways to pool divergent expertise, and more like attempts to emulate That Guy With The Glasses and their silly metaplots/jokes. Vix & Prof teaming up to give their opinions on a fanservice/mecha show, using Vix's experience with fanservice shows and/or feminine problems and Prof's knowledge of mecha conventions, is a perfectly fine way to do things. Having two folks show up in a video and watch something together and interspersing it with blunt, unfunny gags isn't.

The Let's Plays, Vid-Logs, and mini-reviews that last under a minute are starting to irk me. I know they're filler. You're all busy people, I sympathize. But making a pointless 20-second video showing someone putting throwing a DVD at a shelf does isn't interesting or funny or otherwise worth my 20 seconds nor your time. Likewise, any watching someone play a video game is rather boring. If I wanted to watch the game played, I'd play it myself. And while I like hearing a bit about your personal lives, the Vlogs are kind of dull after the first minute.

When the gag stuff starts to get in the way of giving an informative and entertaining review, It has outlived its usefulness. That Guy With The Glasses did that, and it quickly became annoying. Crossovers should be limited to an occasional team-up because of overlapping reviewer niches/interests.

6. Is there anything “broken” with the site that the Brigaders do not seem to be aware of? (Links, search function, etc.)

Everything seems to work fine with me.

7. How do you feel about each of the Brigaders? (Honest but polite, please, and give your reasons.)

Arkada - A fellow countryman! Ark's a pretty engaging guy, all around. His approach to reviews is interesting and entertaining, without being too glib. Some of his gags are occasionally overdone, such as his tendency to go wacky during a relatively straight discussion, and these instances can edges toward being unnecessary. The ad-libbing, while occasionally funny, never quite appeals to me as much as when he stays on script. However, these are never objectionably so, more of a minor annoyance from someone with a a stick up his arse. Sometimes his research is a little error-prone or lacking (the Big O review mentions some things about the second opening which can be summed up as "lol i dunno"), and probably is borne of a lack of time to do serious fact-checking. A better release schedule might tighten that up.

Hitch – He popped up out of nowhere one day, and now I’m supposed to act like he’s always been there. The addition of new Brigade members was a bit awkward to begin with (though necessary, given how the regular members couldn’t keep up with the schedule’s demand), and I found that Hitch had the roughest transition. The fact that (as far as I recall) he had no introductory video about himself left me feeling awkward. As well, his initial approach to reviewing was unnecessarily long and bland, setting up broad jokes which weren’t that funny and telling the viewer about the show’s/movie’s plot rather than summarizing it and moving on to The Point, i.e. how do the scenes you just spent two minutes discussing come together to make the movie good or bad. The Vampire Wars review could have been done in under half the time, and it would have been much better. The Beavis & Butthead shout-outs who showed up felt forced and didn’t gel well with whatever points Hitch was trying to make. It’s unfortunate he had to start like this, Hitch has a lot of good things to say. Even though I disagree with his opinions more than I disagree with Prof (my current ‘nemesis’), Hitch has proven to be constructive. The Princess Tutu review was excellent : even though I would never form have the opinions he did, his explanation of how the show’s more comedic elements fell short for him were valid, and made a sound point. While I feel he is a bit too harsh on things which are generally popular (Again, his take on Princess Tutu), the fact that he doesn’t nod along with the crowd and is comfortable with inciting a good controversy while being civil pleases me. I especially enjoy his Top 10/ Seasonal First Impression bits, as they provide a great breakdown of new shows into bite-sized chunks. I don’t watch many new anime as they air, so I find it refreshing to see what someone versed in the medium thinks. If Hitch cut out some of the chaff (really, if I want to hear about shitty OVAs and movies like Vampire Wars, I’ll watch something by Prof), knocked off the Horny Old Man and I’m Eee-vil jokes (the joint review with Vix on La Blue Girl would have been MUCH better without the ongoing BS with his pecker being shocked like a Skinner rat) and had a Brigade niche as The New Season Guy (perhaps have a beginning, midway and/or end of season commentaries to give more reviews), he’d integrate into Brigade community much better and I’d definitely become a regular viewer.

JesuOtaku - The reason I came to this site. Insightful, informative, and consistently good quality stuff which I am always pleased to see... when it comes. JO takes on a LOT of stuff, and the scheduled released (understandably) get waylaid. It's still annoying, waiting for a review, but at least it's satisfying when one does come out. JO's tendency to talk with her hands during the "all in all" segments feels a little staged at times, as do her summaries of the series at hand. More natural deliveries (rather than reading from the card directly) might improve this, but I find no problem with this personally (as I said, I like structured reviews more).

Kagami - I have very little to say. She showed up one day, and does....AMVs? I'm afraid I don't have much to say here: I don't have a pasison for AMVs like some people do, and while I appreciate your stuff for having excellent editing and good composition, it doesn't rock my personal world. Perhaps I ought to chat with you more, get to know you.

Malakeye -" Am I kawaii ~uguu?" Mal is a swell guy who I like despite the fact that he almost never appears anymore. His projects (Pocky spot, Monthly Manga commentary and the First Episode reviews thing) are a mixed bag, with great ambition and potential, which sometimes lacks in execution. A better editor is probably needed to refine his jokes. All in all, though, the thing Mal should most likely do right now is have a special guest appearance, so he can remind us that he’s still here, and still awesome.

Prof – My most worthy adversary! While I love to razz prof, he’s a sound and capable ‘leader’ guy who does his job well enough. I find his reviews a little dull compared to others, mostly because I find he repeats himself over-and-over again far too often. The Magic Meow Mix Taruto had this problem. “The show is stupid, and it should be aimed at little girls, not adult men. “ I get it. Mentioning some of the animation/scaling problems is helpful for my analytical side, but the review doesn’t feel like a review so much as a collection of various praises and/or nitpicks which don’t come together to form a cohesive whole. When he’s on his game, his stuff is to the point and interesting: the SuperGALS review was excellent, making me appreciate why you like a show even when I don’t like the show myself. When you’re not, it feels unfocused and rambling. Overall,

Rabbit –Vixen’s friend. She’s kind of cute, and appears in vids with Vixen in which she does cute stuff. Aside from that? She’s here because she’s Vixen’s room-mate, and she doesn’t mind appearing in videos. I don’t have any strong opinions on her either way; she’s just now a part of the Brigade. Like Kagami, I ought to perhaps chat with her sometime, and get to know her better.

Tsubake – A funny joke that got overused. She works best in Pocky-Spot, when she plays as a murderous straight man to Malakeye. Her own specials, while occasionally funny, were ultimately inconsequential to me. I come here for reviews, not the ongoing saga of a gag character.

Vixen - A fun woman with an interesting take on how the stuff she watches. While not film-school deep and critical, the insights into a woman’s perspective on Japanese gender tropes, the excess of fanservice and the way characters are developed is interesting. Her commentary on Maid-sama’s heroine going into ass-kicking mode was neat, and the contrast between Misaki and Ouran’s Haruhi made for a nice demonstration. Sometimes the gags stringing the review together fall flat. The maid getup and commentary with Rabbit in Maid-sama was uninteresting: I wanted the review, dammit, not silly mini-plots. The Vandread review also smacked of this: yes, I can see how the joke of mirror-universe-you watching the same show works. I just don’t find it funny. That said, on those occasions when the framing device works, they work well. The one in the Perfect Blue review, with the creepy editing-slices between real!Vix and dream!Vix, hinted at the surreal elements in the movie very well. Also, the Aladdin reviews (while dressed in that HNNNNNG-tastic harem girl costume :3) made use of the little dress-up gag well, without distracting from the main point of the review (the bit where she genie-conjure the movie’s title was really effective and got straight to the point). Occasionally, her delivery of the review script is a touch mechanical (the summary of Aladdin as “the diamond in the rough” felt a little too much like a grade book report, awkward and forced), but she generally perform well. Just please Vix, for the love of cake and bishonen, when you review a movie DON’T DO THE WHOLE THING START TO FINISH. Even if it was a movie most North Americans saw in our childhoods, any good review will avoid spoiling a character’s ultimate fate. Overall, I like Vix a lot, and her stuff – especially the things she’s willing to rip into – is quite fun. Still she’s not perfect, but then again, no one is (besides the Great Teacher Onizuka).

8. How do you feel about the MWF and weekends schedule change?

A good idea. There's only so much content which can be humanly produced; schedule slips are far too easy to fall into if it's expected to always have content, all the time. I'd prefer to see a Tuesday Tursday Saturday schedule, since so many other websites subscribe to a MWF rhythm, but that's just me being selfish and trying to ensure 'net content every day of the week.

9. Do you use the fan blogs? What do you post?

No. With a few exceptions, I've never found myself so enthralled with what other people are reading/watching that I feel the need to check a blog about it. Most people who I'm interested in I already chat/twitter/facebook with, so an additional media plugin /thing to read seems superfluous to me.

10. Are you interested in site affiliation with your site? Or do you have suggestions for D2 site affiliations?

I have no site of my own. I advertise a bit in my signature and/or Website on other forums, but it’s not worth mentioning. I see no problem with affiliating – advertising is good, after all – but being able to affiliate with the kind of site we’d have common interests /goals with which still nevertheless don’t quite overlap. (e.g. That Guy with the Glasses). Don’t hitch your wagon to any star, now: too much in common with the affiliate and you dilute both sites (why link to another site who does the exact same anime reviewer thing when we could just add them to the Brigade?), too little in common and we end up alienating people (No matter how cool your friend’s webcomic is, if it’s not related to anime/manga in any way, it just stands out as awkward). Try and associate with sites which you actually have commonalities with, but inhabit different ecosystems (i.e. a video game review site and the Brigade). Just linking to any Tumblr site dedicated to Sailor Moon/Digimon/Boku no Pico on it cheapens the D2 site –this site is here to review first and foremost, not gush about how awesome fandom-of-the-month is.

11. Do you have a YouTube account? Would you subscribe to the D2 youtube account?

I am a youtube user. Having reviews mirrored on youtube would be fabulous, providing the fascist copyright policy doesn't kick your ass six ways to Sunday.

12. Do you listen to the D2 Podcast? Why or why not?

I used to, quite often. Less so now, due to the fact that I have WAY too many podcasts I've backlogged. The fact that I need to be in a web-browser to listen to them is also a bit of a drawback - I prefer to listen to podcasts on my MP3 player on a bus, not sitting in front of a computer. (Processing the spoken word and written word is way too much, even for my caffeine-riddled brain).

Also, some of the commentary went in a direction that didn't appeal to me. It went from "cool dissection of good/interesting/terrible trends/archetypes in anime in general" to "I watched X. I though Y about it was funny/awesome/blah." I guess I am a snob, after all ;___;

13. What do you like the most about D2?

The sense of community which grew, especially at the site’s beginning. The fact that there was a place on the ‘net willing to discuss anime-related topics intelligently, openly, and with a film critic’s eye really appealed to me. Things like the livestreams and movie nights and the commentaries which we had were great, allowing us to bond over our passion for animation in TV and movies in a safe and friendly environment where adult subject matter can be brought up and discussed civilly. Folks like Spaceman Hardy, Itchinader, and Miss Nayoung the like brighten up the community with their colourful personalities and willingness to contribute to the kind of environment we love. The fact that the team of reviewers – already intelligent, funny and insightful people – were willing and able to communicate back and forth with us helped keep the community feeling alive and healthy.

14. What do you like the least about D2?

The schedule slips aren’t the greatest things ever, but they’re understandable. The crossovers become stupid and TGWTG-esque (read: done for the sake of silliness rather than actual reviewing) very quickly if they’re not used sparingly or effectively. The forums being less active sucks, but it beyond your direct control, so don’t fret too much. Bring back the premium content , or at least let it be more than just cheesy outtakes. Making short videos just so you can update the site is a waste of your time and mine.

15. Anything else you’d like to comment on?

TL;DR – The D2brigade is something which I like a lot, but which lags in some domains.

Focus on reviewing before all other site-based shenanigans.

Crossovers should be used sparingly.

Review videos should primarily be reviews, not overly long gags.

Each reviewer should have a clearly-defined niche which is their specialty and – while not being caged by it – should try to stick to their specialty.

Sneebs is a rotten, opinionated offensive person and he will probably be banned for talking smack so recklessly.

Here endeth the survey!
