I hope we don't lose the archive. There's a lot of good topics in there for nostalgia's sake.

I often find myself going back and looking through old topics, just to see if there was anything I forgot about.

So please... don't kill the archives if you don't have to.

I have to disagree with you, Darksied, and side with the Spaceman. If I made one good thread, it was that damned Feminism & H-Games discussion, and I'll be damned if I let that go to waste!

Now, if we could discontinue archiving threads and just let the inactive ones pile up on the very bottom... I don't see that as a problem. Thread necromancy is hardly the worst sin imaginable, after all.

To be perfectly honest I really don't like when people necro threads.

Mostly because I inevitably posted something stupid in it.

I hate necroing, honestly, but we can just lock threads anyways.

Chance of losing the archives would suck but it's nothing huge. We can just start new ones.

Keep the archives.

I also believe that it's better to necro a thread than have them double or triple-up. Take the 'anime for newbies' threads for example, redundant at the least.

Both are annoying to no extent.

Take Spot. I hate, hate, hate when he necros because he usually does it by adding almost nothing the the thread except a bad joke and a Wikipedia link with absolutely no insight or views of his own. Now if a thread was relevant again like a con came around or a previously discussed film was just released, that's fine. But necroing just for the sake of it?

Oh hell no. As for when a thread needs a lockin', it's when it's been spammed or flamed to Hell, serves no purpose or has no reason left to be open now that the discussion is over. Otherwise just leave them open and use whenever, bump if you have something to add.

Archives should be used to preserve old announcements, finished games, memorable threads and other such things. Not every thread needs to be stored away, after all.

So. Make it the Museum.
