For the record, there was plenty of games where you had to go up. For example:


Others, you could move anywhere on screen.


(Though sometimes, only on the one screen!)


I still wonder if there ever was a side-scroller that only went left...

If there were I don't remember them. I just remember playing all of my side scrollers on my hand-me-down NES for years until I got a used N64 from a pawn shop with Ocarina of Time, A Bug's Life, and Goldeneye. So a lot of the games from the Go Right video are my clearest memories from my childhood.

in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. hyde for the nes when you were Mr. hyde it flipped the sidescrolling so you were going only left
