So the other one didnt get stickied and it died.... Is there a mod i can bug about getting this stickied?

So this thread is pretty self explanatory. You can:
1) ask people for recommendations on series to watch. Outlining what genre you're looking for and what previous series you have watched in relation to it will help people give you better suggestions as well as saving time by eliminating countless back and forth.

2) Post recommendations (as well as responding to requests). Just give a brief outlining of the plot (if it exists), why you like it, who do you think would like it as well as whatever genres it falls under (note one anime can have several genres).

3) Do 1 and 2.

I'll also be posting here a list of the most recommended series by genre to save time for those who dont want to skim through the entire thread.

Psychological?
Monster
Death Note
Mirai Nikki

Slice of Life
Usagi Drop

Comedy
Genshiken
arakawa under the bridge.
Sayonara, Zetsubou-sensei
School Rumble
Baka To test
Irresponsible Captain Tyler
Planates
Ouran High School Host Club

Movies:
Metropolis
Tekkon Kinkreet
Arashi No yoru
Paprika
Jin-Roh the Wolf Brigade

Paranormal
Paranoia Agent

shoujo
Princess Tutu
Utena
Madoka
Slayers
Mahou Shojo Lyrical Nanoha

Horror:
Shiki
Hell Girl

Shounen Series:
Katekyou Hitman Reborn
Blue Exorcist
C:Money of Soul and the Possibility of Control

Sci-Fi
Noien
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Eden Of the East
Stein's Gate

Action anime
Baccano (quentin tarantino esque storytelling)
Cowboy Bebop
Fate/Zero
Ga rei zero*

Can be gritty at times. Not meant for those who are impressionable.

Well then. I guess I'll just be 'a promotin' Katekyo Hitman Reborn.
Katekyo Hitman Reborn seems to be your typical Shonen series- only mafia themed.
The two main problems with it are: One, it starts with about 19 episodes of 'character development', punctuated by a lot of comedy. The manga was originally meant to be a comedy manga, until it switched over to action, so bear that in mind. It's not horrible to sit through- there are some genuinely hilarious moments. But if you're itching for action right away, this is NOT for you. After those episodes, it kicks off into the fighting. The nice thing about the fights is that even though they have a whole themed powers thing going on, the fighting ability is usually manifested in different ways. You'll see fights of dynamite versus knives, horns versus umbrellas, etc... There are exceptions, such as sword versus sword- but the techniques are always different if the weapons are the same.
Problem two would be the fact that the side characters don't really get developed noticably. They DO develop, and there are brief backstories, but it's so understated that you have to look back to see that hey, Gokudera isn't NEARLY as-dare I say-bitchy as he used to be, etc.
The strengths of the series come from the main character, Tsuna and the nakama of the whole group.
The group gradually changes from a bunch of weird, weak, arguing kids to a unified fighting team who actually work together. And Tsuna changes from the weak, cliche brown-haired protagonist to a guy who's still a wimp in some ways, but matured enough in others to really kick butt.
In other words, Tsuna develops without doing a complete personality change (unlike others I know.)
Things may get a Pokemonish in Future arc, just a warning. But if you can deal with that for cool fights, there you go.
So, I'd recomend giving Katekyo Hitman Reborn! a try, just to see if it suits your tastes. Just have a little patience, and you'll be rewarded. If you see the comedy and think "How can this possibly be made into action?", check out this amv for a hint of what comes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAZWpSkoQ5w Not too spoilerific, I hope.
Genres: Action, Comedy.

Well my favorite anime is Baccano. Right now I'm heavily into Eden Of The East. I also love Higurashi When They Cry (although the manga is six times better than the anime.) I think my favorite genre has to be Josei (although I've only seen one. I want to find more!! Also I don't know Baccano's genre.) But really I want to find more Josei!!!

I am promoting the anime Noien, as it has a great dub, epic music, even more epic animation, and is reminiscent to something like GITS. First off, the dub has Crispin Freeman and Yuri Loenthal (sound similar to something), and most of the other characters are well dubbed as well. The music is orchestrated and though that may sound weird for a sifi anime, it really does fit. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=au8Jo371oWM) the first track in the sound track. Also, the animation its self brilliantly switches its self from cgi to a manga style animation. I mean seriously, look at this fight scene. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXN2C_q65n0) Its just one of those animes that are really good but don't get noticed.

Princess Jellyfish is a pretty good Josei anime. Funimation has all of the subbed episodes on Hulu and their Youtube channel and they'll be releasing it on DVD and Blu-Ray with a dub next year.

I've heard NANA is a good Josei anime as well, but I haven't watched it myself.

Well I only know of 3 Josei anime and that is Usagi Drop, Honey and Clover and Nana
I can't recommend Usagi Drop enough if you haven't seen it already
I haven't seen Honey and Clover myself, but the first episode looked interesting enough
Nana I've heard is really good, but again I haven't seen it myself

Cowboy bebop was a live changing anime for me and what really got me involved in anime and manga. I remember marathoning it all night (the only anime I've seen in a single sitting) and loving every minute of it. The ever thing about it including dialogue, dubbing, the themes and especially the music are all top notch (which is something I can rarely say). It's also the series I think I've watch the most and I always end up enjoy seeing it again. I couldn't recommend this anime enough for anyone, especially for musician's or those who love music.

I'd also like to recommend a series that I feel doesn't ever get enough recognition Wolf's Rain.
Like Cowboy Bebop the music (which is also written by Kanno), dub and animation is amazing, and stands as a classic example of anime done right. Despite some similarities this with Bebop it is a very different work, and I think can best be described as a philosophical and fantasy based epic journey. Though some of characters fit into kind of predictable archetypes, they are portrayed in a very realistically light and I really connected with them as characters. I also liked how the show had a mapped out story and wasn't afraid to do some very drastic things plot and character wise. While I can understand how many people might not enjoy the mood or style of this show, I would still recommend that this show be given a chance and viewed.

I'm looking for terrible or passable ecchi series to review.

I already know about Ikki Tousen, master of Martial Hearts, Seriki and the such.

Terrible you say? Well I don't know if you are counting comedy because you just listed "action" shows but try Green Green.

isn't green green bordering hentai?

terrible:
- rosario + vampire (more terrible if you read the manga, and seeing how bad the anime f***ed thing up)
- Mitsudomoe

passible (at least what I thought when I saw them over a year ago):
- He is my master
- Sekeri
- B gata H kei
