Baccano! is a pretty good dub if you ignore the fact that a good chunk of the names are pronounced wrong.

5/10, well hidden but still rather obvious.

Czeslaw is not pronounced Chess-law. It is 'HEES-law.'

Szilard is pronounced 'SEEL-i-zard' or something. It is not 'Zillard.'

Just a few off the top of my head.

That's a minor nitpick at worst, it doesn't bother most people, probably won't bother his friends. Besides, it's supposed to sound "American". What's more American than messing up foreign names?

I dunno I got really annoyed at the Eureka Seven dub since everyone calls her Elreka.

GitS is too monotone.

NHK is too energetic for people who are supposed to be pieces of doodoo in life.

I wouldn't call the former "monotone", it's more "calm and collected"; these are professionals whose job requires them them to keep a cool head at all times. It's controlled but hardly lifeless.

As for the latter... you really haven't spent time around a lot of miserable people, have you? I know people like Satou; that kind of "energetic" isn't enthusiastic, it's frantic and perpetually unnerved. It fits his character's particular brand of crazy like a glove.

I said depending on their taste, I gave variety so you could pick out a few shows you think he'd like.

Because it is people messing up their own names. I have had several people who I showed the dub to who said that they can't watch because of the following reasons:

People say their own names wrong-- In particular the aforementioned and the Laforet family.
Slang is actually a bit of a anachronism, by about 5 years.
Accents don't really match the area/character (The Martillo family lack an Italian undertone).
Acting itself for a few characters is done a bit over the top-- most notably Jacuzzi.

Baccano! is a great dub, but there are lots of problems with it. I'd say Cromartie is probably one of the best dubs out there simply because Japanese can't really convey the sense of 'dude, what the *dolphin noise*?' as well as English can.

NHK hits me on the nose. And Satou got enthusiastic a lot in the show. His discovery of porn on the internet for example. Dub made most people seem a bit too... 'cheery.' I understand it is a fake cheery, but they can't convey the underlying pain that the people are experiencing. Their voices are spot on-- though I disagree with Satou. They flub quite a few of the words last I recall, saying the key word 'Hikkomori' wrong.

Just asked for a good dub. Nothing else. No need to shove down your favourite shows down our throat man .__.

I wasn't. I was listing a wide variety of shows I've seen that have dubs I consider to be quite good. That's all.

Opinions opinions opinions.

@MHK - Baccano, Black Lagoon, and Champloo are all dubs I enjoyed and worth giving a try.

Looking for dubbed series that even the worst dub-phobes could possibly like, as I'm trying to convince some anti-dub people that all dubs are not horrendous abominations (also, dubdubdub. Have I said it enough? :P).

Series I already know of that qualify; Haruhi, Ouran (excluding OP), Samurai Champloo.

Even though I've only seen a few episodes, BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad has one of the best dubs I've ever heard.

EDIT: Looks like somebody already said it, but the point still stands.
