Great as usual, thanks for promoting another great Vertical book. Even if I end up not liking a Vertical book, it is never a issue with quality. I'm glad to see that a artistically (in both writing and artwork) sophisticated company like Vertical is being recognized.

This week I look at a series so manly it almost hurts - the oddly enjoyable JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

And somewhere Hardy is pumping his fist in joy. :D

This week I'm looking at an interesting and underrated little shoujo title from the CMX collections - Land of the Blindfolded

ravenhats: I'm totally a Vertical fangirl too. They pick such interesting titles, and serious kudos must be given to their art department, because their covers are often really lovely to look at. Plus, I like how forthcoming they are on their Twitter feed about which series do and don't do well. That's a real rarity in the world of manga, and I for one really appreciate it.

Durga: HA! My devious plan worked!

Just out of curiosity, does the series ever delve into the philosophical issues raised be the existence of their powers, e.g. their universe is clearly one of hard determinism, what does this mean for free will, etc?

They have a feed O>O where is it? I really would like to know about that sort of stuff even though I don't use twitter. It also surprises me that CMX actually published a really good manga, most of the CMX stuff I remembered seeing when it was around looked terrible (this was even when I was younger and had less high standards). It is nice to see that even a company like CMX produced some good works among the pile of junk they regularly published.

Bobcat: I honestly couldn't tell you, as I'm only 2 volumes into the story.

ravenhats: The feed is @Vertical_Ed. To be truthful, I think that CMX got a bit of a bad rep. They have quite a few solid titles (espeically their shoujo titles), just not any really big name ones. Also, I'll never diss the company that put out Emma, because I love Kaoru Mori's work like a great big loving thing.

It's Monday, which not only means a new review, but the beginning of my first theme month - BLOCKBUSTER ACTION MONTH!

And what better way to kick off that month than with everyone's favorite tale of modern day piracy, Black Lagoon.

( I swear it was a coincidence that this comes so soon after the Five Point Podcast's review of the anime. It just fit so well, and I like it so much. ;) )

(Shakes fist) Do review dibs mean nothing?

... oh right. They don't.

You win this round.

I thought about review that series, but apparently I got side tracked and never got to it. It is definitely a series worth talking about, and worth reading (especially if your a fan of action films). Good choice to talk about, I look forward to next week.

BLOCKBUSTER ACTION MONTH! continues!

Sadly, this week's choice is WRETCHED. Most of you are familiar with its awful animated counterpart, Ikki Tousen, but this week I go straight for the source material. This week I look at Battle Vixens.
