The Background is way to present in this one, as well as does not match the render in the front. I know depth is not my forte, but it's something I've been working on.
The lack of depth here kills the mood and ruins the effect.
Final Verdict: Needs more Depth in it's plot.

Here, I tried to make a weird BG as well as tried some framing like you would see in a manga.
The BG is what I'm proud of as no one notices it's not entirely red until they take a good look at it.
Also, this was my first attempt at a color sig. I ditched it due to the black being to prominate.

This reminds me of the older days when I started making sigs. I get the theme, but the execution is pretty bad.
I would recomend blurring the BG a bit and trying to get the renders to seem as though they are part of the picture.
The Font is cheesy, though it fits the old horror movie style, in my opinion at leasst.

It's a really jarring thing to have and looks out of place. As for the renders, I think you should have gone with only the one in the BG, not the two n the foreground.
The two renders in the front ruin the effect and take you out of the sigs atmosphere.
As for the border, you should use a border tool to complete it, not leave it hangin like you did.

My real issue with this sig is the size to be honest, though knowing you, you won't change that anytime soon.

I found this to remind me of Dead Space: In yor face, but not scary. It's not even unsettling., even if it tries to be.
The red color fits, but the effect is nowhere to be found.

This, believe it or not, was my fifth attempt at the color sig. I started out using the protagonist from P3 but opted out of it as soon as I put in Thanatos.
The BG is actually just a bigger version of the coffins colored yellow and blurred and whatnot.
I like how it turned out and am really pleased with how it looks.

It's a decent sig, and the border is pretty cool. The pop out effect is only subtle, which shows that you are starting to understand positionig the render is important.

Original submition was ugly and while fidling arround, I made this one. Wanted to retry the framing stuff again and decided to include a little of everything I had come to like int the past months.
They represent how I like both games and anime, with no discrimination to either side.
The Sky BG could be interpreted as me having come to like my current job, one that is durring the day, which I can clearly see from my window.

For the record, my opinions on K-ON! have died down in the past few months and although I still enjoy it, I haven't been overly fanboyish about it.
The sig is really meh and the small size does not help at all. I've seen the render and I'm guessing it had quite the gunk arround it to have put so many effects on it.
The sig also feels empty as nothing is happening and it kills the whole thing.

I made this after the K-ON! sig I made where I isolated the red scarf. I consider it one of my best, even with the cheesy blood effect.
Someone made notice of the fact that it looks like a frame from a comic and that is sort of the effect I was going for.
My intentions was to give the effect of a recent murder scene happening infront of one's eyes, like you would see on tv.
I know dark seemed to think this was just a pic I rendered, but it's not. I only found the render and isolated the green hair and nails. The blood was made using a plugin and the ground is actually taking from another picture that I blurred and made black and white.
This was one of my last popouts that satisfied me, as soon after, I started reverting back to non-popout sigs as they became more interesting.

I know you probably aren't the type to do it, but it looks like you just took a picture, slapped a grain layer on it and played with random font before adding some red to make it look "artsy".

It's mostly a test to see if I can get animation to work with more than just one character moving at a time.

This is simple, but I didn't find it that appealing. It's pretty bland and lacks that "I'm trying some funky doodoo here guys" feel that I have come to like from your stuff.
I think a smaller size would have worked better to.

After having re-watched Fooly Cooly, the choice became clear. Although my original idea was to use Ranma, I had to ditch the idea due to the rules and this was born from it.
This also helped me pratcie my depth perception and how I apply it in my work. The render was kind of eh, so it was a bit hard to get arround the gunk, but I was able to make it work and like it.
I'm happy with how the depth worked so well and hope I will get more chances of playing with things in such a way ^^

This one here was an experimentation with borders and gradients. The left side is blue while the right is orange.
The sig alos let me experiment with font positioning, something I've been needind to work on allot.
The idea came to me right after I read the rules for the category, thus why it was the first submition.
