RECOVERED: Anime Blues Con 2012 [Memphis, Tennessee] June 15

Anime Blues Con (ABC for short) is the first mainstream anime convention held in Tennessee, and just celebrated its first year last summer in scenic Memphis. Our good friend SpacemanHardy was there for the festivities and can vouch that it was a blast from beginning to end, particularly for a con so new and surprisingly successful in its turnout. The guests, events and Memphis charm make this relatively medium sized convention a real treat, and they'll be back at it again for June 2012.

Why is ABC worth considering attending? An excellent question, deserving of an excellent answer, which is why I present to you...

You are more than welcome to fill one of those spots, Oogeej. If Prof does decide to join us as well, we'll still have one extra spot left.

One thing to consider, though. I only booked my room for Friday and Saturday night. I'll be checking out on Sunday morning. If you want or need to stay another night, it might be wise to look into getting your own room.

Also, if you're going to be flying into Memphis International Airport, the convention will be running shuttles back and forth from the airport to the Hilton. In your case, Oogeej, I'd pay special attention to the time zone difference in our country. If I'm not mistaken, we're actually something like 26 hours BEHIND the Australian time zone. In other words, what would be Friday for you would actually be Thursday for us. Memphis is in time zone CST, if you want to check and make sure.

Everything's still full speed ahead for Anime Blues Con. Hardy and D_A are going to call up the hotel to see if we can get our two rooms right next to each other, everyone seems to have their transportation worked out, and Hardy even got us the special "group gift" for being such awesome people. All we have to do is show up together. Now all that's left is to wait for June 15th to arrive.

Gonna be a SOOOOOO worth the wait.

Ok so i'm fixed in to go too. One of my two friends interested in going is still on the fence though so if he backs out me and the other will just room with Hardy and/or D_A if that's not a problem. I'll update once we get confirmation either way.

As of the moment, I'm set to go too. Sadly, I won't be able to let anyone room with me because I'm not the one paying for the room which means I have no say. I do hope to meet up with everyone at the con. And man I wished I had remembered to register as part of the group cause that "special gift" sure does sound interestiing.

I already have contact information for SpacemanHardy and Itchinader so I can get in contact with them around the hotel, so we should probably swap numbers or something with D_A, Subarashii, Dresden and Lunar as well before the actual weekend. Probably PM people for phone numbers and such so we can communicate before and during the con and not get seperated in the crowd. Just something else to take care of before June.

@Subarashii: Since Oogeej won't be joining us for the weekend I think we've got extra room if you or your friend wish to room with us for the weekend. Hardy and D_A are still in the process of getting their two rooms booked next to each other, so we'll all be in the same vacinity for the con.

@Lunar: actually the rest of us didn't register as a group, just individually online. But if I'm recalling what Hardy told me correctly, we can still get the special "group gift" if we all pick up our badges from registration together and prove we're in a group for the weekend. I *think* so, gotta double check first. If that's true though then we should all meet up outside the convention on the first day and get our badges together.

I got it. Just look for the group of nerds singing the Sweeney Todd soundtrack in the audience. That'll be the tip off.

I'd also like to remind everyone that Qixie and I are still looking for someone to room with at the con if anybody in Hardy's room would prefer being in a 3 person room instead of a 4 person. We'll still be getting the suite with 2 queen sized beds, so the only difference would be Qixie and I in one bed and the third person getting the other to themselves

Also, Suba, Prof, and I have a crossover idea planned that we may need people for, so if we haven't already contacted you about it and you're interested, please PM me as i am the one working on the actual storyline of said review.

So we MAY have room for one other person if the indecisive one backs out. So if DA or Hardy Don't mind Dresden and Qixie can just room with one of ya'll that way they can split the cost for the room.

I believe that Qixie and Dresden have already booked their own room for the weekend, but if not then I'd definitely invite them to room with Hardy or D_A. I'd like to keep our group as condensed as possible so everyone here has to pay the least without feeling overly cramped.

So to recap, we have:

With this, there's no reason for us to have 4 rooms between the 11 of us. I know that Hardy & D_A have their rooms all booked and already arranged right next to each other, so if we can keep ourselves to three rooms and minimize hotel costs as much as possible, we won't have to go on a ramen diet for the rest of our lives.
