I occasionally used this show to help me get to sleep. I didn't think it was a bad show, but the pacing and story needed work. It was pretty and had a great score, which lent to a nice atmosphere, but overall it was nothing too special. I probably wouldn't have bought the show, but I did win it for free, so I certainly don't regret owning it. It's worth at least one watch in my opinion.

This show COULD have been a high-grade Dan Brown thriller. Instead it was musicboxes and sad girls.

Yuki Kajira's OST deserved to be associated with a better series, IMO.

I agree, its a shame the show fell so flat when it really did have a lot going for it. I love the soundtrack to this show and conceptually its super solid. Here's hoping Madlax is better.

MADLAX?! BETTER?!??!

Sorry to disappoint you Prof, but if Noir is slow, then Madlax is like watching a Mamoru Oshii movie on half speed while stoned out on weed, NyQuil and Actifed.

Not only that, it's concept is RETARDED. Like seriously. I made it through 5 episodes, and for the moments that it didn't put me to sleep, I sat there shaking my head going, "Why am I watching this?"

So yeah. Good luck with that.

My suggestion? Skip it and go straight to the third show in the series, El Cazador de la Bruja. It's pretty dumb too, but it at least has things happening.

As for Noir itself... I actually liked it. True, it was slow as mud at times, but it was at least intriguing enough to keep me interested. Plus watching Kirika kill folks with random objects was pretty awesome.

And then... ya know.... there's always MAH SHELLEH. :D :D :D <3 <3 <3

All I know is that I made it all the way through Noir, and Madlax put me to sleep within five episodes.

Heck, even Shigurui didn't do THAT.

Weird, I really enjoyed it as a teenager. Madlax herself is really interesting with how odd and inhuman she acts, plus these was a great sense of atmosphere. The episodes with the schoolgirl though...yeah, they dragged a bit.
